The company “Badagoni” was founded in 2006 and now owns a winery with one of the most modern technologies in Eastern Europe. The company’s philosophy is respect for Georgian unique traditions and at the same time it aims to create high-quality Georgian wines using the latest technology and scientific knowledge. It has 400 hectares of vineyards in every micro-zone of Kakheti and produces wine from only Georgian varieties of grapes. The chief oenologue of the company from Italy, Donato Lanati is considered to be among the top five enologists in the world. Among the wines of Dr. Donato Lanati, are GAU # 5 wines, which Badagoni calls a new word in Georgian winemaking. It combines five species of wine that are of high quality, in a unique bottle with ascrew cap and of innovative design and has a different concept to the classical and its main target segment is young people. Badagoni has been successful over many years in the world of wine, winning gold, silver and bronze medals and the title of “The best Georgian wine”. At the end of 2016, creating a precedent in the history of qvevri wine, a bottle of “Alaverdi Traditions” won the Gold Medal and the title of “Best Local Wine” at the International Competition “Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit. Badagoni’s qvevri wine is found in Alaverdi Monastery in the 9th century Marani, which was restored in 2006 by the company Badagoni.
